As someone who has lived and invested in neighbourhoods across Toronto, I have had the opportunity to see many areas of our city flourish and grow. Over the past 35 years, many neighbourhoods remain unchanged, with old favourites still around. Other neighbourhoods have been forgotten over time and have gotten worse. Still others, such as West Queen West, have thrived and enjoyed an influx of new businesses and people to support the area.

Twenty years ago, my company, N5R, made a big bet on Liberty Village, not only as our office headquarters, but also as one of the sites for our biggest developer-client projects. It became one of the largest residential condo buildings in North America. For my latest project, Sociable Living, I’ve turned my attention to a new neighbourhood: the Junction Triangle. With its up-and-coming restaurants and many transit options, this area can be the next Liberty Village. That is, the next community and technology hub in Toronto.

About the Junction Triangle

The Junction Triangle is a beautiful neighbourhood, located in the city’s west end near Lansdowne Avenue. These few streets, nestled between the Junction, Roncesvalles and Bloordale Village, are surrounded by railway lines, forming a triangle.

Two busy streets run through the Junction Triangle, Bloor and Dupont Street, making this neighbourhood extremely vibrant. Nearby, you can access Dundas Street and Lansdowne Avenue, which are main thoroughfares for transit, businesses and communities. 

Proximity to Everything

In less than 30 minutes, you can be right in the heart of downtown, enjoying sporting events, concerts or the best shopping in the city. Follow Bloor Street east and you will end up at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus, or in beautiful Christie Pits Park. Follow Lansdowne Avenue south to end up in Liberty Village and the beautiful Echo Beach.

If you choose to stay in the area, you have easy access to the Museum of Contemporary Art, High Park and many more attractions that make Toronto such a diverse and vibrant city.

Public Transport

There are a ton of transit options when you are in the Junction Triangle. Through the many subway stations and bus stops, in a short amount of time, you can be connected to any part of the city. You can take the subway to any part of downtown, jump on a bus that will connect you to other bigger stations or take the Union-Pearson Express train from the Bloor GO Station, connecting you to downtown or the airport in minutes.

If you’re a fan of biking, then the West Toronto Railpath is another great service connecting the Junction Triangle to the rest of the city. This multi-use asphalt trail runs south alongside the Milton and Kitchener GO lines and is an excellent walking and riding trail, where you can enjoy the city’s greenspace. Toronto is at your fingertips when you are living in the Junction Triangle.

Restaurants, Pubs, and Cafes

The amount of restaurants, bars, pubs and coffee shops in the Junction Triangle is outstanding. If you can’t find what you are looking for in the Junction Triangle, then it doesn’t exist.

Here are a few of my favourite places:

• Station Cold Brew: A coffee brewing company with a great new location. You can buy their cans to take home or you can enjoy a draft brew coffee there.
• Tuck Shop Kitchen: A lunch takeout and convenience store offering the best burgers, fresh sandwiches, homemade soups and salads. It’s a one-stop-shop for everything you need and a place you can go back to over and over again.
• Farmhouse Tavern: Serving farm-driven food, Ontario craft brews and VQA juice, this restaurant is popular with the locals. They serve fresh, original food you will love.
• Henderson Brewing: These locally crafted beers are instant hits. Purchase them to take home or try a few in their brewery, located in the heart of the Triangle. This unique brewery is located on the Sterling Road strip, which is hopping with creative businesses.
